Be specific

Give context

Tell Claude:

  • who you are

  • what you’re working on

  • who the audience is

  • any constraints (tone, length, format)

Iterate & refine

If the first response misses the mark, ask for a revision.

Examples:

  • “Make it shorter.”

  • “Use a more formal tone.”

  • “Add an example.”

Ask follow-ups

Claude keeps conversational context. You can reference earlier parts.

Examples:

  • “Expand on the third point.”

  • “Rewrite this for a technical audience.”

Example prompts

  • Coding: “Debug this Python function and explain what was wrong: [paste code]”

  • Writing: “Write a professional email declining a meeting, polite, under 100 words.”

  • Learning: “Explain quantum entanglement like I’m 12.”

  • Planning: “Create a 7-day meal plan for a vegetarian athlete training for a marathon.”
